Movestuff — Building the Platform for a Smarter Way to Move
MoveStuff was launched with a bold ambition: to create a better way for people across New Zealand to get things moved. From cars and couches to full house moves, the goal was to bring simplicity, trust, and transparency to an industry that had long operated offline and out of sync with customer expectations.
When the founder approached Launchpad, the vision was clear—there had to be a better way. What wasn’t yet clear was how that vision would take shape as a product, platform, and brand.

The Opportunity
The moving industry in New Zealand is heavily fragmented, with no dominant digital solution and plenty of inefficiencies—empty trucks on return trips, slow quoting processes, and a lack of trust on both sides of the transaction.
Movestuff set out to solve this. But building a successful platform meant more than launching a website—it required:
A scalable tech foundation
A clear user experience strategy for two very different audiences
A trusted brand identity that felt local, reliable, and modern
And a product roadmap that could evolve over time
Our Approach
We worked closely with the founder to take the early idea—an online marketplace for moving—and help shape it into a robust, scalable platform with product thinking baked into every layer.
1. Defining the Model
Through collaborative workshops, we explored multiple approaches to pricing, quoting, transporter onboarding, and payment flow. We helped refine the platform’s core mechanics, aligning with the founder’s goals while contributing technical and strategic direction on what would scale.
The outcome was a marketplace model that:
Connects customers with transporters in real-time
Supports multiple job types (car, house, office, etc.)
Filters jobs based on region, category, and balance
Automates quote management and customer notifications
2. Designing the Platform
From UX flows to system architecture, Launchpad handled the full-stack build—ensuring every feature was designed for performance, clarity, and future extensibility.
Highlights include:
A modular job creation system that adapts to different move types
Queue-based notification architecture for transporters
Supabase-powered authentication and real-time updates
A scalable balance and bidding system for quality control
3. Creating the Brand
Movestuff needed to feel trustworthy and approachable—something that looked modern without feeling corporate.
We developed a clean, confident visual identity with:
Friendly but direct microcopy
Playful iconography
Subtle animations to bring the experience to life
A tone of voice that feels local and helpful
This wasn't just about looking good—it was about creating confidence and clarity for both customers and transporters at every step.

The Result
Movestuff has launched as a category-defining platform, offering a seamless experience for both sides of the moving equation. Customers can now post and manage jobs in minutes, while transport providers have a reliable source of relevant, pre-qualified work. It’s no longer just about moving, it’s about making the entire process smarter, more efficient, and built for the modern world.

Final Thoughts
At Launchpad, we specialise in turning early ideas into digital businesses. With Movestuff, we partnered closely with the founder to bring clarity, strategy, and execution to every stage of the build, from product design to platform infrastructure.
The result isn’t just a website, it’s a scalable logistics platform ready to grow with the market.
